JCVD released in the United States
The film by Mabrouk El Mechri with Jean-Claude Van Damme playing its own role in a police drama released in North America through an agreement between Gaumont and Peace Arch Entertainment.

I personally did not like (see my review of JCVD ) because too soporific. I prefer finally the actor in his usual roles. But it remains the only film by Jean-Claude Van Damme film that critics loved. Action films are not generally appreciated by the sort of journalists. 
JCVD will make its U.S. debut at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival (I do not translate, simply replace the words in order!) September 4, so in less than 2 semains.
Peace Arch provides to release the film in American theaters shortly after.
